The 2009 Reunion will be held September 17-20th on Amelia Island, Florida.  The Ritz Carlton is a 5
diamond resort located on the Atlantic Ocean 30 minutes north of Jacksonville.  This resort will allow
an intimate gathering for the 368th Fighter Group.  We have reserved a "Presidential Suite" for our
hospitality room.  This is a 2700 square feet that features a large area for gathering in conversation
groups, a large dining area featuring a dining table with seating for 8-10, a kitchen with full size
refrigerator etc.  Also included 3 bathrooms and the bedroom is so large it also includes a large seating
area gathered around the pass through fireplace between the living area and bedroom.  There are 3
balconies with seating overlooking the ocean.  I am very confident that this suite will be quite enjoyable
for the pilots and their families and friends.

The hotel itself is much smaller and more intimate than many of the other reunion gatherings.  I think
this will work well for the pilots because they will not be walking far to get from their rooms to the suite.
We will have all the pilots on the same level as the suite.  All guest rooms reserved for the reunion will
be in the same wing if not on the same floor.  Guaranteed.  All the guest rooms have a balcony
overlooking the beach/seaside.  Our discounted price for the rooms is $189/night.  There are a few
suites available for $500/night.  Valet parking is mandatory @ $17.00/night.  Group participants

We planned for the principals to be spending most of their time visiting with each other.  However,
Amelia has many interesting features that they may want to enjoy.  We arranged for an exlusive 2 hour
river cruise on Friday the 19th.  Dickie Anderson also suggested that she give an island tour so we are
checking on utilizing the local trolley in order to minimize the expense.  We have other ideas that will
help us stay at the resort.

Jacksonville International Airport is the closest to Amelia.  It is an easy drive and we thought we would
meet the principals personally to help with luggage etc and take them to the Ritz in a limo or private
car to bring them to the resort.  If renting a car is preferred, the airport is quite small and the rentals
cars are very conveniently located.  Amelia is three hours from the Orlando airport.

Amelia Island is a barrier island approximately 13 miles long (north-south) and 2-3 miles wide at it's
widest bit.  It features a quaint historic fishing village downtown area with Victorian buildings and
houses.  Fort Clinch State Park is located on the north end of the island and the Amelia State park is
located at the south end.  The beach is just over the dunes via the boardwalk.  There are shops and
boutiques downtown as well as at the Plantation located on the south end of the island.  We thought we
would arrange transportation for those interested in shopping if they haven't arrived.

When sending out the invitations we will be asking for information on special needs, such as a
wheelchair rental, dietary concerns for the meals etc.  We thought we would have a continental
breakfast available in the hospitality suite each morning to serve those with a lighter appetites.

Bill and I are looking forward to seeing everyone in September
